Social Implications of IT

With IT becoming more widespread everyone is now able to connect and share on a whole new level because of social media. Social networking services like Facebook and Skype have given us the ability to communicate for free over thousands of miles instatnly, this has greatly changed the world as people begin to recede inside choosing a screen and text over physical contact. Do you think this is entirely a bad thing?
